Four people have been arrested after an altercation outside Watford’s Vicarage Road stadium left two men needing hospital treatment, Hertfordshire Constabulary have confirmed.The injured men sustained cuts and bruises to their faces, though reports of stabbings were proven to be false.Police were called to Vicarage Road shortly after 5pm on Saturday following Watford’s Premier League match against Everton.Watford supporter Lewis, 31, who did not want to give his full name, said he “heard a lot of shouting” as he was leaving the stadium after the match and “went to take a look”.2He said he saw “a Watford fan lying on the floor, apparently unconscious, with blood on his face” and “three Everton fans running from the scene towards the town centre”.He added: “Friends around him were crying and shouting for people to help and call an ambulance.”Images posted to social media show people gathered around someone lying on the floor while an onlooker calls someone a “coward”.A spokeswoman for the force said: “At around 5.10pm, an altercation occurred between a group of men.“Two sustained cuts and bruising to their faces and have been taken to hospital for further assessment.”Watford fans taunted Marco Silva with toy snakes during the game2

BBC journalist Rick Kelsey was at the scene, producing live updates on his Twitter feed.He said: “Outside Watford loads of police after fighting in-between coaches and railings next to crowd. Two Watford fans on ground covered in blood. Ambulances on scene.”Kelsey then provided an update later saying: “One man ( in his thirties ish) was not moving a lot as ambulances arrived. Police blocking coach doors to stop fans getting off.”Watford skipper Troy Deeney set the tone for the game at a fan’s forum in midweek, promising to ‘kick the s**t’ out of the Toffees to get back at Silva for his betrayal. Marco Silva was back at his old stomping ground on Saturday for the first time since his acrimonious departure 13 months ago.Andre Gray scored the only goal of the game after 65 minutes as Watford secured a 1-0 win over Silva’s Everton.Twitter user @LewisJDonovan captured footage of Everton fans attacking Watford fans after the game, although viewer discretion is advised.
