Newcastle United takeover news: Peter Kenyon deal ‘dead in the water’
A potential takeover of Newcastle United is apparently ‘dead in the water’, according to The Sun.The consortium, headed by former Chelsea and Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon, had seemed close to a deal to buy the club from Mike Ashley.Former Chelsea and Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon.1

Owner Ashley had demanded they raise their bid from 200million to 300million and it was thought Kenyon and his supporters had come up with a way. However, for Ashley to get the extra 100million it is believed the Magpies would need to reach the Champions League in the next decade. And the 54-year-old has turned this offer down, wanting the extra 100million upfront and not dependant on clauses. American Rockefeller Capital Management are working with Kenyon on the deal but whether another alteration on the bid can be made is unknown.
